Rock Climbing
Rock climbing is about always being on the edge of your limits and striving to break
through them so your energy, confidence and abilities increase both in body and mind.
I've never participated in an activity where improvement is so speedy and visually
apparent. It is an extremely rewarding process to begin climbing in an indoor gym
on the easiest colour rocks - green - and within months or
even weeks you can return to the same wall and climb the next level of difficulty - blue rocks.
It's like getting to the next level in a video
game but you are actually doing something real and healthy.
There are endless metaphorical lessons to learn from climbing. Is it time to give up?
How far can you push your body and mind, not just in climbing but in business, relationships and
competitive environments? I am stubborn and determined in character and sometimes I need to
ask myself - Is it always healthy to keep forcing my way by pushing as hard as I can?
Perhaps its best to return to fight another day? Only you
can answer these questions and decide which options are most suitable for the challenges you face.
Rock climbing gives you experience with these types of dilemmas, it helps you to better learn your limits
and gives you confidence in making these decisions.
